The Dangers of Phishing

Lately, we have been seeing a rise in fraudulent phishing emails, both to us and to our clients. As a reminder, please review these quick tips to help protect yourself from bad actors.

What to watch out for:

  • Company Branding: Fraudulent emails may use a logo or name to appear trustworthy, even though they aren’t from us.
  • Suspicious Links: Before clicking any link or opening an attachment, make sure you recognize who sent the email and that you were expecting it. If not, don’t click.
  • Personal Information Requests: We will never ask you to share your username, password, credit card number, or any other private details in an unsecured email or through a link in an email.
  • Urgent Language: Scammers often try to scare you into acting fast — for example, by saying your account will be closed or your access will be lost. Take a moment to stop and verify before responding.

How to stay protected:

  • Verify Sender’s Address: Click or tap on the sender’s name to see their full email address.
  • Check Links Before Clicking: When you place your cursor over a link, you’ll see the web address appear — often at the bottom of your screen. If it doesn’t look like a site you trust, don’t open it.
  • Contact Us: When in doubt, contact us directly using known contact information, not what is provided in a suspect email.

If you believe you’ve clicked on a suspicious link or shared personal information, we recommend taking extra precautions to protect your accounts. Use strong, unique passwords for all your online logins, change your passwords periodically (or anytime you believe your identity or account may be targeted), and enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) wherever possible.
